1951 Pontiac 6 cyl 3spd - jhudds - 03-03-2026 I picked this up a couple years ago, it was on its way to be crushed. Saved it, its got no title at the moment. I got it running, all the lights and gauges work, with the exception of the radio and clock. I rebuilt the master cylinder, replaced the wheel cylinders and some lines. She runs and stops. Has virtually no floors in the front and thin ones in the back. Seat bracket is messed up, also the under seat rad leaked so it was deleted. Picked up an old set of Craiger's with decent tires, albeit they are a tad too short. She had a respray sometime back in its past. We affectionately call it Rusty. Looking to get the paperwork done to get titled, but here in NJ its a monumental task. I have some old door skin material I am going to use to patch floors and get her back to driving around town. RE: 1951 Pontiac 6 cyl 3spd - Dave - 03-04-2026 Great save from the crusher! It's a pretty good looking 51 Chieftain Deluxe. Do you intend on restoring it sometime, or just making a fun driver out of it? Plans to keep it stock? The Cragar's look great on it. I chopped up a pretty solid 51 4 door car several years ago for panels to rebuild my rusty 1952. I have a lot of parts left from that car if you happen to need anything for yours. There are some title services that may be able to help you with the title.. I saw an ad on Facebook for one with good reviews just yesterday, but I was unable to remember the name of it. If I find it, I'll share a link here. If you try to go the title service route, I'd advise against using Broadway Title Company. I know several people who tried them and ended up losing their money.. They were hard for them to keep in contact with and get info from also. RE: 1951 Pontiac 6 cyl 3spd - 54starchief - 03-04-2026 A decent 2 door car to the crusher??? Good luck with the project. I look forward to seeing more of this one! |
