Body Tag Locations
1949–1952 Pontiacs, the body tag is located on the passenger-side front of the firewall.
1953–1954 Pontiacs, the body tag is located on top of the passenger side of the firewall.
How To Use This Form
To use this form to decode your Body Tag please fill out the information requested from the tag on your car.
You can search all fields, or any single field.
- Style Number (StyleNo) – Will have 2 numbers (Year) [hyphen] followed by a Style Number.
You must enter the complete number.
Example: 51-2511D
- Body Number (BodyNo) – Will have a 1 or 2 letter prefix followed by some numbers.
You must enter the complete number with no spaces or hyphens.
Example: CL4648
- Trim Number (TrimNo) – This is a 4-digit number. If your tag only shows 2 digits, you must add the year of your car to the front.
Example: If your car is a 1951 and it only shows 71
, enter it as 5171
.
- Paint Number (PaintNo) – This must also be a 4-digit number. If your car only lists 2 digits, add the year in front of those digits.
Top and ACC Info (Not Decoded):
- Top: Refers to a convertible top color.
- ACC: Accessory codes showing what accessories/groups your car was built with. Not entirely reliable as they aren't always stamped.
